The top photo was taken outside in the snow; the bottom was taken indoors against a white wall with the flash used to blow out the white. Tell me which you like better.

What was your background ?
The first, outside, looks very natural and almost soft. The second is crisp and clear and bright.
You could use both in different situations. Both are good.

I like them both. But I think it really depends on what look you're going for.
